Renovations
_AVNA has an inherent appreciation and judgement in the value of historic precincts and buildings that leads to an appropriate response in renovating or adding to these structures. AVNA works closely with Heritage Building assessors and has found a strategy to arrive at solutions that preserves the heritage, yet is at the same time innovative and exciting for the National Heritage Authorities’ approval.
A recent example includes the extensions to the Bredasdorp Magistrates Court Building that was approved by SAHRA with complements. A published article on AVNA’s restoration work was that of the conversion of a historic whisky factory building into a farm house, keeping the essence of the historic industrial elements and creating a comfortable, exciting dwelling.
François Nortjé also has prior experience in the commercial utilization / conversion of a large series of Victorian Industrial buildings into a designer-themed mixed-used development consisting of offices, restaurants and showrooms close to the Waterfront of Cape Town.
