_AVNA has through the years, served the public sector both in South Africa and abroad on a continuous basis. The latest South African building completed was the doubling of the historic Magistrates Court in Bredasdorp. The new building intervention was designed in a neutral modern style for the historic building to retain it’s rightful place as dominant structure. The functional operation of the court was corrected at the same time with circulation patterns of prisoners, magistrates and public, now operating per courthouse convention.
AVNA was commissioned by an International Design and Build firm, Bouygues Batiment to undertake the design, documentation and assistance during the construction of 9 police stations in Trinidad / Tobago. The Police stations were designed to latest international standards merged with the local culture and method of operation. These designs were developed with the client to ensure optimal value for money and buildings that the tax payers of Trinidad can afford and be proud of. These stations are the only civic structures in many of the boroughs and thus a symbol of the civic establishment. Design and documentation was completed utilizing a dedicated avna team who have become experts in international building codes, systems and procedures.
