History
_Albertyn & Viljoen Architects was established in 1988 in Paarl near Cape Town, South-Africa, with the practice expanding in 2006 to Albertyn Viljoen Nortjé Architects. The practice is also active abroad with a policy to place staff members to work at the client or project workplace, as required and to form joint ventures with local partners.
The practice has been serving a variety of clients over many years on a very personlized basis. In working with AVNA, they found architects who are very passionate about the projects and inspired they render enthusiastic service. This has led to a long-standing and loyal client base bringing the practice a variety of building types to design and execute, from very sensitive alterations and additions in Historic Building precincts to modern High Technology Structures. Projects large or small are approached with equal drive for quality, leading to an appropriate outcome.
In 2006, AVNA decided to expand to deal with increased client demand. Architects from the Central Cape Town area and Europe and some SA Architects returning from high profile work abroad, joined the practice and added to the field of expertise, which has created an even wider collective building typology experience.
AVNA opened a second office in the Western Cape late in 2006 to have geographical diversity and in serving clients. AVNA’s work has received a series of awards, including that of the South African Institute for Architecture and the CNBC.
