_AVNA’s principals have worked with the detailed shop specifications of anchor tenants such as the Spar group and coordinated shopping centre tenant’s requirements. Due to experience in the field, AVNA were requested to document an expansive Shopping centre in Kuwait in 2006 and to arrange the engineering disciplines and other professional team members. Some local shopping / retail projects and investigations includes D’urbanvale Gateway Centre, Windpomp Centre in Worcester, Compotex, Millmin, Standard Bank and the FAWU site redevelopment in Gugulethu. The completed projects are fully tenanted and found to be highly desirable as retail venues, from both the clients’ and tenants’ perspectives. The shopping centre categories of value centre, open mall and closed mall or neighbourhood, sub regional and regional centre are analysed from Demographic data and the appropriate designs implemented to achieve the viability study / business plan. AVNA designed a retail and business hub for the Velodrome Precinct in Bellville, creating a focal point in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. An integration of sport, large auditorium events, retail and offices around a public square that is a lively, desirable place to be, was achieved.
